Reclaim, Relinquish Policy and Fees

RECLAIM FEES

Minimum $17/day with a maximum of $50

*Must have proof of ownership.

*Proof of Rabies vaccination and ID required for reclaim. If a pet is not current on rabies you will need to purchase a Rabies voucher and schedule an appointment before leaving with your pet. The cost of the voucher is $63 (which includes Exam and rabies vaccination)

OWNER RELINQUISH FEES

The prices for an owner relinquish are as follows:

Single Adult K9/cat/puppy/kitten: $45

Litter of puppies/kittens 8 weeks or older (3 or more): $60

When surrendering multiple animals (that do not fall under the litter of puppies/kittens category) the first is $45 and each additional is $15.

ALL ANIMALS SIX MONTHS AND OLDER THAT ARE RELINQUISHED MUST HAVE A CURRENT RABIES VACCINCATION.

STRAY ANIMALS

All stray animals must be brought in through animal control and JCAS will NOT accept strays directly from the public. It is encouraged that if you encounter a stray animal immediately contact animal control (812-265-2648) and file a report. The JCAS may not have vacancies available and therefore unable to take in the stray immediately.
